Siliguri, Aug. 28 -- Four minor girls and two adult women were rescued by the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) from the India-Nepal border before they could be trafficked to a dance bar in Nepal. Two men were arrested in the case.
The two arrested men have been identified as Nirmal Debbarma (25 years), a resident of Tripura and Chinmoy Basak (32 years) a resident of Maynaguri in Jalpaiguri. The four rescued minors are aged between 14 and 17 years and are all residents of Tripura. Two adult women, aged 24 and 21 have also been rescued.
According to sources, SSB personnel intercepted them while they were allegedly attempting to cross from India into Nepal. Following questioning in the presence of SSB officials, the names of a woman identified as Anna, a resident of Cooch Behar, and Vicky Kaushik, a manager of a dance bar in Biratnagar, Nepal, reportedly emerged.
The arrested duo allegedly had links with Anna and Vicky Kaushik and were reportedly involved in arrangements to take the girls and women to the dance bar in Nepal.
The rescued minors, the two women and the arrested accused were subsequently handed over to Kharibari Police for further action. The four minors are expected to be reunited with their families.
