New Delhi, Aug. 29 -- A political row erupted after the TMC objected to the remarks of Panchayat minister Dilip Ghosh, who allegedly attributed the writing of 'Vande Mataram' to Rabindranath Tagore. The TMC also shared a video on its X handle in which Ghosh was seen speaking to reporters on Raksha Bandhan.
In the video, which could not be verified, Ghosh was heard saying that Tagore had stopped the partition of Bengal by writing 'Vande Mataram' and organising a social programme like Raksha Bandhan.
TMC, in a post on its X handle, said: "@SuvenduWB: India got independence in 1945. Can @DilipGhoshBJP be far behind? Apparently not! Dilip Ghosh now claims that Vande Mataram was written by Kobiguru Rabindranath Tagore. It wasn't. Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay wrote Vande Mataram, Hon'ble Minister!"
