New Delhi, Aug. 29 -- Kolkata Police have arrested one more person in connection with the August 27 clash at the TMC office on Camac Street, taking the total number of arrests to 14.
The Anti-Rowdy Section arrested Toufiq on Friday evening for his alleged involvement in the confrontation between police personnel and TMC workers and handed him over to Shakespeare Sarani Police Station.
The 13 people arrested earlier were produced before a court on Friday. Their bail pleas were rejected and they were remanded in judicial custody till September 3. Three FIRs have been registered in connection with the incident, naming TMC national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee, Rajya Sabha MP Derek O'Brien and other party leaders as accused.
The clash took place after KMC officials, accompanied by police, went to the party office to remove a billboard bearing the TMC name.
Separately, the building owner has served a legal notice on the TMC, asking it to vacate two floors within 24 hours or face legal action. The owner's lawyer, Sagnika Banerjee, alleged that the sixth and seventh floors were occupied before the completion certificate required under the lease agreement was issued.
She alleged that the floors were occupied despite the absence of the certificate and repeated requests to vacate them. The lawyer said a 10-year lease was signed on March 1, 2020, between the owner and the All India Trinamool Congress and Trinamool Youth Congress, represented by TMC leader Debraj Chakraborty.
