Kolkata, May 16 -- The TMC on Saturday sent three fact-finding teams to violence-hit districts of West Bengal, alleging attacks on party workers and raising fresh questions over the Assembly poll process.
Acting on the direction of party supremo Mamata Banerjee, the teams visited parts of South 24-Parganas, East Midnapore and Hooghly to meet affected workers and their families.
Dola Sen, who visited East Midnapore, said workers and supporters were facing intimidation, violence and displacement after the poll verdict. Another team led by Sushmita Dev visited South 24-Parganas, where she alleged police inaction and claimed FIRs were not being registered.
Adding to the allegations, TMC Rajya Sabha MP Sagarika Ghose said preliminary findings from the teams pointed to "serious manipulation" in the election process.
Ghose alleged that after May 4, TMC party offices and even some local administrative offices were forcibly taken over by BJP supporters. She also questioned the counting process, claiming EVMs that showed 68-70 per cent battery after polling were found with over 90 per cent charge on counting day.
She further alleged that VVPAT slips were not counted, election officials and TMC agents were intimidated, and party counting agents were assaulted. The party also alleged that in post-poll violence, TMC has lost nearly 10 workers, and more than 3000 workers were injured.
