NEW DELHI, May 21 -- A Delhi court has convicted three men in a case linked to the 2020 northeast Delhi riots, holding that prosecutors proved they were part of an unlawful assembly involved in stone-pelting at police in Khajuri Khas. Additional Sessions Judge Parveen Singh said evidence showed the mob obstructed officials and injured several policemen during the February 24 violence.
The court ruled that membership of an unlawful assembly was sufficient to attract liability, even without specific overt acts by each accused. However, the accused were acquitted of charges related to arson, vandalism and use of deadly weapons, citing insufficient evidence.
