
Kolkata, Oct. 8 -- A teacher training programme was organised by the Satyam Roychowdhury Foundation in collaboration with the University of the West of England to enhance the professional skills of teachers.
The first phase of the training programme was held over two consecutive days from Monday at the Sister Nivedita University (SNU) campus in New Town. The second phase commenced on Thursday at Techno India Group Public School, Chinsurah.
Teachers from several Techno India Group Public Schools, including those in Chinsurah, Kolaghat, Krishnanagar, Durgapur, Bolpur and Nabadwip, participated in the two workshops. In effect, teachers from all Techno India Group Public Schools were covered under the training initiative. The University of the West of England has introduced a specially-designed English-language training programme for teachers across all Techno India Group schools. The programme included practical, hands-on sessions as well as online training. Upon successful completion of the programme, all participating teachers were awarded certificates by the University of the West of England.
The training was conducted by educationists including Steven Baker, Rina Basak and Rachel Chris, among others, with support from Tim Bowles, the former and inaugural Mayor of the West of England.
Speaking on behalf of the Satyam Roychowdhury Foundation, Professor Ashok Dutta said that the foundation undertakes various philanthropic initiatives throughout the year, primarily focusing on enhancing students' skills and overall development.
These initiatives include health check-ups, as well as identifying Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) among students.
