Siliguri, May 12 -- In a major boost to the educational and technological landscape of north Bengal, Techno India Group (TIG) inaugurated multiple modern academic and industry-oriented laboratory facilities at the Siliguri Institute of Technology (SIT) while also hosting a grand alumni reunion programme filled with celebration, nostalgia and reconnecting memories.
The event was attended by Satyam Roychowdhury, Founder & Managing Director of Techno India Group and Chancellor of SNU and Techno India University, Tripura, who formally inaugurated several newly developed facilities aimed at strengthening technical education, innovation and industry collaboration.
One of the key highlights of the programme was the inauguration of the "Toyota-Kirloskar Electric Vehicle Workshop" established under a previously signed Memorandum of Understanding between the institute and industry partners. The workshop has been designed to provide students with advanced hands-on training in electric and hybrid vehicle technology, aligning academic learning with emerging industrial demands.
Roychowdhury also inaugurated the newly developed 3D Printing and Additive Manufacturing Technology Lab, established in collaboration with the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY). The state-of-the-art lab is expected to enhance research, innovation, and skill-based learning in advanced manufacturing technologies.
Further expanding the institute's infrastructure, a newly developed innovative building equipped with modern facilities for the Department of Hotel Management and Catering Technology was also inaugurated during the programme.
A tree plantation drive involving alumni members was organised alongside the inauguration ceremonies, reflecting the institution's focus on environmental responsibility and sustainable development. However, the emotional highlight of the day was the grand alumni reunion programme, which witnessed enthusiastic participation from former students of different batches, including alumni from the 2003 batch onwards.
The reunion initiative, which began on April 4 and continued through Kolkata on April 18, culminated with the Siliguri chapter on May 10.
The programme featured cultural performances, interactive sessions and the formal formation of the Alumni Association Siliguri Chapter, making the event a memorable occasion for former students, faculty members, and dignitaries alike.
