Kolkata, Oct. 7 -- West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari on Wednesday set an ambitious target for the BJP in the 2029 Lok Sabha elections, vowing to win all 42 seats in the state for PM Modi.

Speaking at an event in Gujarat's Vadnagar marking Modi's 25 years in public service under the 'Seva Sankalp Abhiyan', Adhikari pledged: "In the next Lok Sabha election, under Modiji's leadership, we will work to gift him all 42 seats from Bengal."

He also expressed gratitude for the development of West Bengal under Modi's leadership and emphasized the party's goal for the 2029 parliamentary polls.

"The previous governments in Bengal - the Left and Trinamool Congress regimes - caused enough damage to the state. The appeasement politics of the Trinamool government left Bengal far behind. Under PM Modi's leadership, work is now being carried out at a great pace. Modi ji, while serving as Prime Minister, had committed himself to the development of West Bengal. Today, after five decades, the people of West Bengal have formed a nationalist double-engine government under PM Modi's leadership, and we have started working. People are now getting the benefits of Ayushman Bharat and PM Awas Yojana," Adhikari said.

Meanwhile, during the 2024 Loka Sabha elections, BJP in West Bengal had bagged 12 seats, Trinamool Congress 29 seats and Congress 1.

Earlier in the day, Adhikari attended a 'Seva Jyoti Yatra' at Netaji Indoor Stadium, then headed to the Kolkata airport and travelled to Ahmedabad. The Prime Minister's address to the nation was broadcast on a giant screen at this event at Netaji Indoor Stadium. The people of the state listened and watched it. Several cabinet ministers of the state and state BJP leaders were also present at the programme. Adhikari is scheduled to travel to Malda on October 8. He is expected to visit the district's Manikchak area to take stock of the fresh flood situation in Bhutni island and the erosion affecting both banks of the Ganga and Fulhar rivers across several blocks.

Malda District Magistrate Rajanvir Singh Kapoor held a meeting with officials on Tuesday to review preparations for the Chief Minister's visit. Adhikari is expected to interact with flood- and erosion-affected residents, distribute relief materials and address a public gathering.
