Kolkata, July 8 -- West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari on Wednesday held a meeting with industrialist Ashok Todi as part of the state government's ongoing efforts to attract fresh investments to West Bengal, a senior official said.
The meeting, held at the state secretariat Nabanna, focused on investment opportunities and industrial development in the state.
The senior government official said the discussions with Todi, chairman of hosiery major Lux Industries Limited, and the Mitsubishi delegation were part of a series of interactions the chief minister has been holding with industry leaders to encourage fresh investments in the state.
Lux Industries, which owns the Lux Cozi brand, is scheduled to lay the foundation stone for the Rs 600-crore expansion of its integrated manufacturing facility at Dankuni on July 11.
Representatives of Japanese conglomerate Mitsubishi also met the Chief Minister at Nabanna. Industries minister Tapas Roy was present during the meeting. "The government is engaging with investors across different sectors to understand their requirements and facilitate projects in
West Bengal.
These meetings are aimed at creating a favourable environment for investment and industrial growth," the official said. The official, however, did not disclose details of the proposed investment plans or any
specific agreements discussed during
the meetings.
