KOLKATA, Sept. 15 -- A day after rebel TMC MP Jagadish Chandra Barma Basunia claimed that 17 of the 20 Lok Sabha members aligned with NCPI could join the BJP, Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari, Union minister Sukanta Majumdar's visit to actor-politician Dev's home for Ganesh Puja triggered speculation over the Ghatal MP's next political move.
Dev, a three-time TMC MP and one of Mamata Banerjee's prominent star campaigners, joined NCPI after the party's defeat in the Assembly polls.
Majumdar, however, dismissed any political angle, describing Dev as his "brother" and saying he attended the Puja on the actor's invitation.
TMC MLA Kunal Ghosh also visited Dev's home the same day and described his visit as a courtesy interaction.
Dev, who has remained silent on his political plans, was recently seen sharing the stage with CM Suvendu Adhikari at Uttam Kumar's birth centenary celebrations.
