Malda, July 8 -- Union minister Sukanta Majumder on Wednesday visited the newly inaugurated 'Aamar Malda' Store at Malda Samabayika on Netaji Subhash Road in English Bazar and praised the district administration's initiative to promote local products. His visit came as the store achieved a major milestone, recording sales of more than Rs 1 lakh within the first 24 hours of its inauguration on Tuesday, reflecting strong public response to locally made products.
During his visit, Majumder appreciated the concept of creating a dedicated marketplace for Malda's traditional and value-added products. He said: "The 'Aamar Malda' Store is an excellent example of how a district administration can create economic opportunities by promoting local products. Crossing significant sales on the very first day highlights the immense potential of Malda's products. Such initiatives will strengthen the spirit of 'Vocal for Local' and contribute to building an Atmanirbhar Bharat."
Welcoming the immense response, the district administration labelled it as a strong endorsement of Malda's artisans, farmers, entrepreneurs and self-help groups. District Magistrate Rajanvir Singh Kapur said: "Sales exceeding Rs 1 lakh within the first 24 hours clearly demonstrate the acceptance and strength of our district's products.
Our objective is not merely to establish a marketing platform but to create sustainable livelihood opportunities by providing better market linkages for artisans, self-help groups, farmers and entrepreneurs."
Chief Whip and MLA Amlan Bhaduri also lauded the initiative, saying: "The initiative will encourage local enterprise and help establish Malda as a strong regional brand."
