
Kolkata, July 31 -- The West Bengal higher education department has named IAS and WBCS officers as nominees of the Additional Chief Secretary (ACS) in the Court and Executive Council of 14 state-aided universities for four years, with several officers assigned to more than one university.
Following the nomination, Jadavpur University (JU) has scheduled an Executive Council meeting for August 6. Azar Zia, IAS, Joint Secretary in the Higher Education Department, has been nominated to JU's Court and Executive Council.
Apart from Jadavpur University, Zia has also been nominated for Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology and Baba Saheb Ambedkar Education University.
Additional Secretary Partha Chakraborty has been nominated for Rabindra Bharati University, West Bengal State University and Gour Banga University, while Joint Secretary Arindam Biswas has been nominated for Kalyani University, Kanyashree University and Darjeeling Hills University.
Additional Secretary Tanay Deb Sarkar has been nominated for Kazi Nazrul University and Bankura University, while Joint Secretary
Arbindo Ghosh has been assigned Rani Rashmoni Green University and Hindi University.
Senior Special Secretary Chandani Tudu has been nominated for Sidho Kanho Birsha University.
The department has also laid down instructions for scheduling meetings.
Court and Executive Council meetings of state-aided universities outside Kolkata should preferably be convened on Saturdays. If held on weekdays, they should preferably be scheduled towards the end of the working day.
