Kolkata, Nov. 4 -- The Bengal government has reportedly made its new e-tendering portal mandatory for 25 state departments and all their subordinate offices from November 3, directing them to publish all fresh tenders exclusively through the centralised digital platform.
A notification issued by the Finance department's Audit Branch on November 2, signed by Additional Chief Secretary (Finance) P K Mishra, said the move was aimed at ensuring transparency and timely implementation of government schemes through a streamlined tendering process.
The departments concerned can no longer invite fresh tenders through their individual channels or the older state e-procurement system. All new tender notices must be uploaded on tenders.wb.gov.in, while data from the existing portal is being migrated to the new platform.
The departments covered reportedly include Agriculture, School Education, Higher Education, Home and Hill Affairs, Health-related departments, Labour, Housing, Tourism, Industries and Commerce, Information Technology and Electronics, Food and Supplies, Fisheries, Animal Resources Development, Women and Child Development, and several others.
The portal was initially introduced on a trial basis on December 3, 2025, through a Finance Department memorandum. Its use was subsequently extended to the Public Works Department and certain other departments in August this year.
Officials said the centralised platform would facilitate better monitoring of tendering processes, improve accountability and reduce delays in awarding government contracts.
