Kolkata, June 8 -- The West Bengal government on Monday dissolved the Trinamool Congress-led board of the Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) and appointed Municipal Commissioner Smita Pandey as Administrator for up to six months or until fresh elections are held.

The move follows political turmoil after Mayor Firhad Hakim's resignation and the arrest of several councillors. With the dissolution, all elected bodies and offices within the KMC ceased to function, placing the civic body under direct administrative control.
