Kolkata, Nov. 2 -- Following Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari's announcement on Sunday that 2.5 lakh CAA applications would be cleared by December 31, Nabanna on Monday deployed 12 IAS officers to expedite the process in North 24-Parganas and Nadia.
Six officers have been assigned to each district, which have significant Matua populations. The officers, along with the respective district magistrates, have been directed to accord top priority to completing hearings and disposing of pending CAA applications.
The move comes as the state government seeks to accelerate the processing of applications. Once granted citizenship, eligible applicants can enrol themselves as voters.
