Kolkata, Sept. 29 -- The West Bengal School Service Commission (WBSSC) has withdrawn the earlier final panel, waiting list and recommendation letters for recruitment to Assistant Teacher posts in Classes XI-XII under the 2nd SLST (AT), 2025, and published a revised
preliminary list of candidates for interview, leaving candidates who had reached the final stages of recruitment uncertain about their selection.
The commission issued the notice on Monday, September 28, following revised vacancies submitted by the West Bengal Board of Secondary Education (WBBSE) in accordance with the Backward Classes Welfare Department's clarification on OBC reservation. The total number of vacancies remains 12,445, but the category-wise distribution has changed following the revision of OBC reservation from 17 percent to 7 percent.
The revised preliminary list replaces the earlier interview list issued in November 2025 and the final panel and waiting list published in January 2026.
All counselling processes conducted on the basis of the earlier panel and waiting list have also been withdrawn, along with the recommendation letters issued following those processes.
Candidates included in the revised preliminary list who had already appeared for the oral interview and lecture demonstration will not have to appear again.
Their existing scores from the OMR-based written examination, academic credentials, oral interview and lecture demonstration will be retained and considered while preparing the revised final merit list and waiting list.
For candidates included afresh in the revised preliminary list, the commission will conduct physical verification of original testimonials, certificates and other relevant documents, along with the oral interview and lecture demonstration.
The schedule will be notified separately. The revision has triggered concern among candidates who had already received recommendation letters.
