India, Aug. 13 -- The three-day Monsoon Session of the Delhi Assembly concluded on Wednesday with the tabling of 19 Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) reports, passage of four Bills and discussion on 52 public issues, with Speaker Vijender Gupta describing the session as one of the most productive in the current Assembly's tenure. Addressing a press conference after the session, Gupta said the House functioned for 13 hours and 19 minutes despite the continued absence of the Leader of Opposition. He said a record 23 legislators were allowed to raise public issues in a single day under Rule 280, exceeding the usual daily limit of 10 members. Also Read - Man sedated, electrocuted, & beaten to death in S Delhi The Speaker contrasted the performance of the current Assembly with the previous House, stating that while the Seventh Delhi Assembly held only five sessions during its entire five-year term, the Eighth Assembly has already completed six sessions in less than 18 months. Among the major legislative business completed during the session were the passage of the Delhi Bed and Breakfast Establishments (Repeal) Bill, 2026, the Bill on time-bound delivery of public services, the Delhi Urban Shelter Improvement Board (Amendment) Bill, 2026, and the Delhi Fire Service (Amendment) Bill, 2026. The House also discussed civic issues such as waterlogging, garbage management, stray cattle, roads and electricity bills, besides holding a two-day discussion on the North-East Delhi riots. A congratulatory motion on the Delhi Lakshmi Yojana was unanimously adopted. Gupta also announced the pilot launch of the AI-powered BHASHINI live transcription and translation system in the Assembly, describing it as the first such initiative in any legislative institution in the country. Commenting on disruptions during the session, the Speaker criticised the conduct of some Opposition members, alleging disorderly behaviour inside the House. He said a motion condemning the incidents was adopted, though no stringent disciplinary action was initiated. He added that all 19 CAG reports tabled so far have been referred to the concerned departments for time-bound Action Taken Notes.
