NEW DELHI, May 11 -- The Delhi Police have arrested two men for the alleged murder of a 35-year-old labourer whose decomposed body was found buried under sand at an under-construction building in northeast Delhi's Shahdara area.

The accused were identified as Aakash Rai (25) and Man Singh Rai alias Ranu (25), both residents of Tikamgarh in Madhya Pradesh.

Police said the body was discovered on May 6 after a foul smell was reported from the fourth floor of an under-construction building in Naveen Shahdara.

A police team reached the spot and found the body concealed beneath a pile of sand. Due to the advanced stage of decomposition, identification was initially difficult.

During investigation, police examined footage from nearly 100 CCTV cameras and carried out extensive local inquiries.

Suspicion fell on the two accused, who worked as chowkidars at a nearby construction site and were last seen with the deceased on the

night of May 2.

Police said the duo abruptly left Delhi on May 4 and switched off their mobile phones. Teams were sent to Tikamgarh, where both were arrested after multiple raids.

During interrogation, the accused allegedly confessed to killing Ram Sewak, Aakash's brother-in-law, following a drunken quarrel over a trivial issue. Police said the body was later buried under sand to conceal the crime.
