New Delhi, Sept. 25 -- Union Home Minister Amit Shah is likely to inaugurate four major road infrastructure projects on September 29, including the Barapullah Phase-3 elevated corridor, Delhi Cabinet minister Parvesh Sahib Singh said on Friday. According to the Delhi Public Works Department Minister Singh, Shah will also lay down
the foundation stone for two new flyovers - Modi Mill to Kalkaji and Savitri Cinema half flyover - on September 29.
"The Mukarba Chowk underpass, which has been completed, will also be inaugurated on the same day by the home minister. The projects altogether will be a major step towards resolving the traffic congestion problems in the city," Singh said.
The Barapullah-Phase 3 corridor, which is the biggest of the four projects, aims to provide seamless connectivity between East and South Delhi, linking Mayur Vihar Phase-1 and AIIMS via signal-free carriageways.
The new flyover will merge with the existing Barapullah flyover at Sarai Kale Khan, completing a stretch of around 9 km.
Originally approved in 2014 and initiated in 2015, the project was initially scheduled for completion in 2017. However, it faced multiple delays and significant cost overruns, with the revised project cost now at approximately Rs 1,635 crore.
