Kolkata, July 30 -- The state Panchayats and Rural Development (P & RD) department is pushing for a self-survey mechanism to identify beneficiaries under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Gramin) rural housing scheme, in addition to government officials conducting field surveys for the same purpose.

This is the first time the state P & RD department has introduced a self-survey through which eligible citizens can complete the process online on their smartphones without visiting any office. The exercise can be done till August 15.

Applicants need to install two mobile applications-AwaasPlus 2024 and AadhaarFaceRD. After opening the AwaasPlus 2024 app, users must select their preferred language and register using their Aadhaar number.

Following registration, applicants are required to fill in their personal details along with information about other family members, including job card details and other necessary particulars. They must then provide their bank account information.

As part of the survey, applicants have to upload photographs of their existing house as well as the site where they intend to construct a new house. Once all the required information has been entered correctly, the survey can be submitted by clicking on the "Upload Survey Response" option. A confirmation message reading "Survey Completed Successfully" will appear upon successful submission.

Those who are unable to complete the process on their own may seek assistance from family members or neighbours. Following the submission of applications, designated surveyors will visit the applicants' homes to verify the information and assess their eligibility under the prescribed criteria of the housing scheme.

As per data of the state P & RD department, 2.35 lakh beneficiaries have done a self-survey. Malda has witnessed the maximum number of self survey with 55632, followed by Jalpaiguri with 46366 and Cooch Behar with 25874.
