New Delhi, Oct. 10 -- Sealdah Division will deploy 270 ex-servicemen and additional RPSF personnel to manage the expected passenger rush during Puja. Parking at Sealdah Station will be prohibited from October 15 to 21, with the area reserved for pick-up and drop-off.

The arrangements were reviewed at a coordination meeting chaired by Rajeev Saxena, Divisional Railway Manager, Sealdah, with senior officials of the state police, Kolkata Traffic Police and GRP.

RPF personnel will be deployed at critical foot overbridges and busy level-crossing gates, with support from Scouts and Guides, Civil Defence and St John Ambulance volunteers. The division will also maintain 24-hour CCTV surveillance and set up medical assistance booths and ambulance services at stations with heavy passenger footfall.

For monitoring and emergency response, the division has designated 11 nodal points covering groups of stations, backed by a central war room. Passengers requiring urgent assistance can call 9147906778.

The digital locker service at Sealdah station will remain suspended from October 15 to 21. Officials have been directed to keep Automatic Ticket Vending Machines (ATVMs) and Mobile-UTS services operational and arrange additional booking counters wherever required.

Mobile maintenance teams from the Signal and Telecommunication, Traction Distribution, Engineering and Train Repairing Services departments will be stationed at strategic locations from 4 pm to midnight to address equipment failures and minimise disruption. "Our priority is to ensure the safety and convenience of every passenger during Durga Puja," Saxena said.
