Kolkata, Sept. 22 -- The West Bengal School Education Department has directed upper primary, secondary and higher secondary schools across the state to organise speech and drawing competitions on September 23 under the '25 Crore Bacho Ke Sapno Ka Bharat' programme as part of the 'Seva Sankalp Abhiyan'.
School Education Minister Dipak Barman said the competitions would be held in two groups - Classes V to VII and VIII to XII - for both speech and drawing.
"Students will speak or draw keeping in mind the Prime Minister's 25 years of public service, and another theme could be 'Viksit Bharat', meaning what their vision of a developed India would be," Barman said.
The department has also directed schools to organise a 30-minute musical-theatrical presentation titled 'NaMo Seva - Ankahi Kahaniyan', which will also facilitate the identification of student and artistic talent.
On September 26, schools will observe the birth anniversary of Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar from 11 am to noon, followed by an exhibition of drawings by selected participants of the September 23 competition.
The top five drawings from each group at the school level will be sent for the district-level programme on September 29, to be held at a school selected by the concerned District Inspector of Schools.
Barman said the top five drawings from each group at the district level would be taken to the state level. He said the first, second and third positions at the state level would receive special recognition, while the top five entries in each group would also be awarded at the school and district levels.
"I appeal to all parents, students, teachers and school staff to ensure that students participate in the competitions and get the right environment to present their own ideas," Barman said.
