Kolkata, Oct. 17 -- The father of the RG Kar rape and murder victim on Saturday questioned the CBI's role after the Supreme Court granted bail to former hospital principal Sandip Ghosh in a case related to alleged financial irregularities at the medical college.
He called for accountability, questioning how people could continue to trust the central agency if it had shortcomings. "If an agency trusted by 147 crore people has such shortcomings, how can people continue to repose faith in it," he asked. He also said the government could not be held directly responsible as the CBI was an investigating agency. The SC granted Ghosh bail on Thursday in the financial irregularities case. Ghosh had approached the apex court after his bail pleas were rejected by a special CBI court and the Calcutta High Court.
