New Delhi, Sept. 13 -- Delhi Lieutenant Governor Taranjit Singh Sandhu on Saturday inaugurated the 48th Annual Conference of the Association of Obstetricians & Gynaecologists of Delhi (AOGD), calling for a life-course approach to women's healthcare with greater emphasis on prevention, early diagnosis, treatment, research and awareness.
The conference, themed "With HER: Heal, Empower, Respect... Every Step of the Way," focuses on women's health from adolescence and reproductive care to pregnancy, childbirth and ageing.
Sandhu said Delhi, home to several leading medical institutions, has a responsibility to emerge as a hub for advanced treatment, medical research, innovation, training and public-health leadership.
He said women's health was central to India's social and economic progress, while noting challenges including anaemia, high-risk pregnancies, cancers and unequal access to quality care.
The L-G highlighted the potential of artificial intelligence, advanced imaging, telemedicine and data-driven research in diagnosis and personalised care, and urged collaboration among hospitals,
universities, researchers and policymakers to improve health outcomes.
