Chandigarh, Oct. 2 -- Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Friday said a public grievance would be considered resolved only after the concerned citizen confirms that the problem has been addressed and relief provided.
Reviewing development works, citizen facilities and grievance redressal in Gurugram, Saini said the government had a parallel mechanism to track complaints and obtain ground-level feedback, which he personally monitored.
He said he sometimes spoke directly to complainants, even without identifying himself as the Chief Minister, to understand their concerns and subsequently took up the matter with officials. A complaint, he said, was also a means to assess how effectively government services were reaching citizens.
Saini directed officials to continuously obtain feedback and ordered re-examination of cases where citizens reported that their problems remained unresolved despite disposal reports. Responsibility would be fixed and action taken if negligence was found, he said.
He said officers would be assessed not merely on office-based work but on visible results on the ground, with their performance also reflected in Annual Confidential Reports.
Saini said Regional Officers of the Haryana State Pollution Control Board had been suspended for negligence in the improper operation of a sewage treatment plant by a builder in Gurugram.
He also announced measures including zone-wise areas for ready-mix concrete and conversion of the Gurugram Water Supply Channel into an underground pipeline. The Rs 1,993.59-crore, 69.585-km project from Kakroi Head to Basai Water Treatment Plant is scheduled to begin in January and be completed in 30 months.
