New Delhi, Oct. 30 -- Steel Authority of India Ltd (SAIL) reported a 315 per cent rise in profit after tax in Q2 FY27 over the corresponding period last year (CPLY), supported by improved operations, higher sales and a stronger product mix.
SAIL Chairman and Managing Director Dr A K Panda said the quarter's performance reflected improved production-sales synchronisation, iron ore production and sales, and a focus on high-value products.
The company achieved its highest-ever Q2 production of hot metal, crude steel, saleable steel and finished steel. High-value product volumes grew 36 per cent over Q1, while supplies of Vande Bharat wheels to Indian Railways stabilised.
SAIL mines also recorded their highest-ever quarterly production and sales. Total sales volumes increased 5 per cent over CPLY, supported by improved inventory management and direct dispatches through rail and road. Panda said alignment of production with market demand was strengthening SAIL's presence in infrastructure, engineering, defence and railways. He also highlighted the company's renewed focus on workplace safety, equipment health and productivity.
SAIL said its integrated approach to operational excellence, innovation and financial discipline would support sustained growth during the remainder of FY27.
