New Delhi, Sept. 25 -- Delhi Lieutenant Governor Sardar Taranjit Singh Sandhu on Thursday outlined a four pillar roadmap for a world-class Delhi during his participation in various NDMC events, stressing safer streets for women and children, AI enabled civic services, zero waste neighbourhoods and Jan Bhagidari as a shared civic responsibility.

Interacting with NDMC employees at the NDMC Convention Centre, Sandhu congratulated the civic body for securing first position in the 'Swachhta Hi Sewa' campaign and appreciated sanitation workers, gardeners, engineers and other staff for keeping New Delhi clean, green and well-maintained.

He said frontline workers were the "true brand ambassadors" of the city and stressed their safety, dignity, welfare and institutional support.

Sandhu said well lit roads, elimination of dark spots, effective grievance tracking, better service delivery, scientific waste disposal and zero waste colonies could improve citizens' quality of life. He also said cleanliness could not be the responsibility of the government alone and citizens must actively participate. The L-G interacted with employees on medical requirements, women's safety at workplaces and surrounding areas, mechanisation of sweeping, concerns about possible unemployment due to technology, recreational facilities, canteens and the need for new accommodation.

He later visited Anupam Colony in Chanakyapuri, where he appreciated the RWA's efforts towards 100 per cent source segregation and on site composting. He said such community led initiatives should inspire similar efforts across Delhi. Sandhu also inaugurated a Dental Health Awareness and Preventive Oral Health Camp at Dharam Marg, where he visited stalls on oral health, geriatric care, tobacco and cancer awareness, child oral health and 3D dental care.

He also appreciated NDMC's civic services during major international engagements, including the BRICS Summit, and highlighted 100 per cent source segregation under the Swachhta Hi Sewa campaign as an important step towards sustainable waste management.
