Raiganj, Sept. 22 -- The Sabhapati and Sahakari Sabhadipati of Mamata All India Trinamool Congress-led Raiganj Panchayat Samity board in North Dinajpur resigned from their posts on Tuesday, raising questions over the functioning of the Samity and delivery of civic services in the block.
Sabhadhipati Joysree Bapari Barman and Sahakari Sabhadhipati Bijay Sarkar Bhowmik submitted their resignations to Raiganj SDO Tanmay Banerjee. Both cited personal reasons for stepping down.
The BJP has already started considering steps to seek reconstitution of the board.
North Dinajpur BJP district president Nimai Kabiraj said: "We have learnt that both the Sabhapati and Sahakari Sabhadipati have resigned. If public services are affected. we will take initiatives for reconstitution of the Panchayat Samity board."
