Kolkata, Oct. 2 -- The Regional Transport Authority (RTA), North 24-Parganas, has invited online applications for new permits/offer letters for auto-rickshaws against 1,381 vacancies across 61 routes in the Barasat, Bongaon and Basirhat police district areas.
According to a notice issued by RTA, the highest number of vacancies, 96, is on the Madhyamgram Chowmatha to Bada via Kharibari route. It is followed by Kholapota to 72 No. Bus Stand with 79 vacancies, Malancha to Sarberia with 68, Habra to Nagarukhra with 65 and Malancha to Ghoshpur with 61. The vacancies are meant for both existing registered autorickshaws holding offer letters but without permits and fresh applicants, depending on the route. Several routes have been marked exclusively for registered vehicles, while others have vacancies for fresh applicants.
Owners of registered autorickshaws holding offer letters but without permits will have to comply with BS-IV or BS-VI emission norms and operate on the specified route or in the designated area. Their vehicles will be physically verified by the Motor Vehicles Inspector (Technical) before the permit is issued.
The application window is from September 28 to October 27.
