Kolkata, Aug. 27 -- With the Trinamool Congress Chhatra Parishad (TMCP) Foundation Day just a day away, both rival camps of the student organisation appear all set for their separate programmes on August 28, with preparations and mobilisation already in full swing.
The Calcutta High Court has allowed the two factions to organise programmes at separate venues, while denying permission to either side to hold a rally at Mayo Road. The Mamata-backed TMC faction will hold its programme on Cathedral Road, in front of Birla Planetarium, while the Ritabrata-backed camp has been permitted to organise its programme at Rani Rashmoni Avenue.
At the Mamata-backed camp, TMCP leader Upasana Chowdhury overseeing preparations at the venue, said: "The party has taught us to keep fighting and move ahead despite all obstacles and adversities. We are carrying that lesson with us as we prepare for Foundation Day."
Leaders of the student and youth factions backing Ritabrata were also seen at Rani Rashmoni Avenue overseeing preparations for the programme. Kohinoor Majumdar said they were expecting a huge crowd, while making it clear that the faction would abide by the High Court's order limiting attendance to 1,500.
August 28 will also see the Congress student wing observe its Foundation Day at Mahajati Sadan, while a 10,000-voice rendition of Vande Mataram is scheduled at Jadavpur in the presence of Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari.
