Kolkata, May 15 -- Trinamool Congress MLA from Madhyamgram, Rathin Ghosh, appeared before Enforcement Directorate (ED) officials at the CGO Complex in Salt Lake on Friday in connection with the municipal recruitment corruption case.

Ghosh, a former Food and Supplies minister, had earlier skipped five summons issued by the ED.

According to sources, the central agency had repeatedly called him for questioning as part of its probe into alleged irregularities in municipal recruitment.

However, Ghosh reportedly cited election campaign commitments and physical illness as reasons for not appearing before the agency.

Even after the Assembly election results were declared, Ghosh was summoned again which he

allegedly skipped.

On

Friday, however, he arrived at the CGO Complex around 10:15 am without prior intimation to the ED officials. Before entering the office, he reportedly stated that he was unaware of the reason behind the summons.

After nearly eight hours of questioning, Ghosh left the ED office.
