India, Aug. 21 -- Rain lashed parts of Delhi in the early morning hours on Thursday, with several weather stations recording maximum temperatures above normal despite the showers, the India Meteorological Department said. Palam recorded the highest 24-hour rainfall at 28.4 mm, followed by Safdarjung at 8.1 mm, Ayanagar at 4.7 mm, Lodi Road at 2.4 mm and Ridge at 0.4 mm. Safdarjung recorded a maximum temperature of 35.8 degrees Celsius, 1.6 degrees above normal. Lodi Road recorded 35.6 degrees Celsius, 2.6 degrees above normal, while Ridge and Ayanagar recorded 35.3 degrees Celsius and 35 degrees Celsius, 1.4 and 0.9 degrees above normal, respectively. Palam recorded 34.2 degrees Celsius, 0.3 degrees below normal. The weather office forecasts a generally cloudy sky with light rain on Friday.
