New Delhi, April 20 -- Puducherry Lieutenant Governor K. Kailashnathan joined the Sikh Sangat at Gurudwara Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji on Sunday to mark the twin occasions of Vaisakhi and Khalsa Sajna Divas, with a large gathering of devotees from Puducherry, Chennai and nearby regions creating an atmosphere of spiritual fervour and communal harmony.

Addressing the congregation, Kailashnathan highlighted the Sikh community's immense contribution to the nation, praising its legacy of sacrifice, service and commitment to national progress. He underlined the enduring relevance of core Sikh values such as seva (selfless service) and langar (community kitchen), describing them as powerful symbols of equality and compassion that continue to inspire society.

The Gurudwara management accorded a warm welcome to the Lieutenant Governor and honoured him with traditional tokens, including a Tamil translation of Japji Sahib, sacred hymns of Guru Tegh Bahadur, and a model of Sri Darbar Sahib. He was also presented with a siropao, a robe of honour symbolising respect in Sikh tradition.
