Kolkata, May 15 -- A day after Abhishek Banerjee issued a message to boost the morale of the party workers, thanking them for their "courage, resilience, and relentless fight for justice" amid what he described as a "compromised election," the Trinamool Congress on Friday announced from Saturday three fact-finding teams will visit violence-hit districts across West Bengal and investigate allegations of post-poll attacks, voter intimidation, and counting irregularities.
In his message, Banerjee alleged that in more than 100 constituencies, party candidates and counting agents were forcibly removed during counting, while central government employees effectively controlled the process in several centres. He also claimed that after the declaration of results, party workers, offices and homes came under attack as central forces remained "mute spectators."
Assuring workers that the party would pursue every constitutional and legal option, he urged them to remain united and continue serving the people.
Following Banerjee's message, the party, on the instructions of chairperson Mamata Banerjee, announced three fact-finding teams comprising MPs, senior leaders and organisational faces. Among those leading the teams are Sushmita Dev, Prasun Banerjee, Dola Sen, Mohammad Nadimul Haque, Pratima Mondal and Samirul Islam. The teams will begin district visits from Saturday, meet affected families and displaced workers, and submit a detailed report to the party leadership.
Senior Matua leader Mamata Bala Thakur, addressing a Press conference from Delhi along with Sagarika Ghose, alleged that the Matua community was among the worst affected by voter deletions, EVM discrepancies, and intimidation by Central Forces during polling. She also questioned how the BJP secured large victory margins in several Matua-dominated constituencies despite what she claimed were large-scale deletions.
