Kolkata, June 9 -- Following the raid at the flat owned by the former Sports minister Aroop Biswas and his brother Swarup Biswas in Sahapur Colony of New Alipore on Monday, police on Tuesday raided the Suruchi Sangha club.

On Tuesday afternoon, a police team from the New Alipore police Station, accompanied by a large contingent of Central Forces, reached the Suruchi Sangha club along with Swarup. It is alleged that the club was constructed on the land owned by the LIC. On Friday afternoon, a group of people allegedly vandalised the club and tore down the flex and banners as well.

From inside the club, a good number of sarees were found. Apart from this, the mob even found a king-size bed and a large number of government-produced packaged drinking water bottles as well.

On Monday, police conducted a search at the flat in Sahapur Colony where the cops reportedly discovered a concealed room secured with a digital lock. Sources said Swarup allegedly declined to provide the access code. Police subsequently brought in a locksmith and a carpenter to gain entry to the room. However, the lock could not be opened.
