Kolkata, Oct. 27 -- Kolkata Police on Tuesday paraded three accused men barefoot, bare-chested and in shorts through the streets of Sarsuna to reconstruct the crime scene where a youth, his father and a friend were allegedly stripped and forced to walk naked over the youth's romantic relationship with a minor girl.
The three accused - the girl's father, maternal uncle and elder brother - were tied with ropes around their waists and marched through the same lane where the incident occurred on Sunday evening. Their parade, however, triggered a controversy over whether the police could make accused persons walk in shorts and bare-chested.
The incident took place near Khalpar Math in the Khudiram Pally area of Sarsuna. A friend of one of the girl's relatives allegedly spotted the youth kissing his 13-year-old girlfriend. In retaliation, the girl's family allegedly abducted the youth and his friend and subjected them to a brutal assault.
The situation escalated when the youth's father arrived at the house. All three were allegedly held at gunpoint and forced to walk completely naked along the street for around 50 metres, while onlookers filmed the ordeal.
They were rescued only after local residents intervened and provided them with clothing.
