India, April 27 -- The Anti-Narcotics Squad of the Delhi Police has busted an illegal arms supply network with the arrest of three accused, including a key supplier from Meerut, Uttar Pradesh. Acting on a tip-off received by its east district team, the squad apprehended Babu alias Murdari and Raj Kumar, both residents of Ghazipur in Delhi, and Parvinder, a resident of Meerut. According to police, the accused were intercepted on April 23 near the CRPF Red Light on the road connecting New Kondli Market and Khoda, following intelligence developed through social media monitoring and technical surveillance. Babu alias Murdari and Raj Kumar were travelling in a car when they were detained. An illegal pistol with two live cartridges was recovered from Babu, while a button-actuated knife was seized from Raj Kumar. A case under the Arms Act was registered at Ghazipur Police Station, and both were taken into custody. Acting on this information, police conducted a raid at a residence in Dadri, Uttar Pradesh, where they recovered an automatic pistol, two country-made pistols, and 14 live cartridges. Following sustained efforts and technical surveillance, Parvinder was subsequently tracked down and arrested in Meerut. At his instance, two additional country-made pistols were recovered from an under-construction plot. Police said the arrests have exposed a wider arms supply chain operating between Delhi and western Uttar Pradesh. In total, the operation resulted in the seizure of two automatic pistols, three country-made pistols, 16 live cartridges, three knives, and a Maruti Brezza car suspected to have been used in the offence. Police officials stated that the swift and coordinated action by the Anti-Narcotics Squad helped avert a potential threat to public safety. Further investigation is underway to identify additional links and dismantle the entire illegal arms network.
