New Delhi, Sept. 8 -- Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Russian President Vladimir Putin are set to hold bilateral talks on Friday, September 11, on the sidelines of the BRICS Summit in New Delhi, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said.
The meeting is expected to cover a range of issues concerning India-Russia relations, with the proposed sale of Russia's Su-57 fighter aircraft to India among the matters on the agenda. The two leaders are also likely to discuss broader defence and strategic cooperation. Modi and Putin most recently met on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation summit in Bishkek, where they discussed bilateral ties and international developments.
The upcoming meeting comes amid efforts to further strengthen the longstanding India-Russia partnership. Both sides have continued engagement on defence, energy, trade and other areas of strategic cooperation. The BRICS Summit in New Delhi will bring together leaders of the grouping's member countries, with discussions expected to focus on issues of global and economic significance.
