India, July 25 -- Customs officials at Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport have seized 19.5 kg of suspected hydroponic weed from a passenger arriving from Bangkok and arrested him under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. The passenger, who landed on July 22, was intercepted by the Air Intelligence Unit after crossing the green channel on the basis of Advance Passenger Information System profiling. An X-ray scan of the baggage revealed suspicious images. On examination, officials recovered five vacuum-sealed packets containing a green substance suspected to be hydroponic weed, weighing 19.595 kg, including the packaging. The suspected contraband, along with the concealment and packing material, was seized under the NDPS Act. The passenger was arrested, and further investigation is underway to ascertain the source and intended destination of the consignment.
