India, Aug. 17 -- A 550-km interstate hunt led to the arrest of two men from Uttarakhand in connection with the killing of a 27-year-old man in northwest Delhi's Lal Bagh area, police said on Sunday. Accused Aman alias Mulla (26) and Anuj alias Moni (20) were apprehended from a spot near Chappar Toll Naka while they were travelling in a rented car. Officials said Anuj was also wanted in another murder case registered at the Jahangirpuri police station. The rented car and two mobile phones were seized from their possession. "The incident took place on August 12 in the Lal Bagh jhuggi area of Azadpur, where police received PCR calls regarding a stabbing and firing. The injured man was rushed to the Babu Jagjivan Ram Memorial (BJRM) Hospital, where doctors declared him dead," a senior police officer said. Also Read - Atal Canteens hit century Advertisement According to police, the victim had suffered firearm injuries, with entry and exit wounds in the abdomen and back, besides a stab injury on his back. An eyewitness told police that he and the victim were near his house that night. Around 11:30 pm, they went to a shop where they encountered Aman and another person. An altercation broke out between the victim and the accused, following which Aman and his associate allegedly threatened the two men before leaving the spot. The accused allegedly returned when the victim and the eyewitness were heading back to their locality and opened fire. While the eyewitness managed to escape, the victim sustained gunshot as well as stab injuries, the officer said. A case was registered at the Adarsh Nagar police station, a team formed and an investigation launched.
