Kolkata, Oct. 12 -- Metro Railway, Kolkata, will reduce service hours on the Orange Line from October 13, Tuesday, to conduct trial runs on the Beleghata-IT Centre stretch, with services starting an hour later and ending 50 minutes earlier than usual.

Services will operate from 8.40 am to 8.18 pm instead of the existing 7.40 am to 9.08 pm. The revised timings will remain in force until the required testing formalities are completed, Metro Railway said on Monday. Trial runs on the stretch began on October 10 and will continue over the coming days in accordance with prescribed safety standards.

"To ensure this, curtailment of commercial services partially in the early morning and late evening hours is required," said a Metro official, explaining the need for the revised timings.
