India, June 29 -- The Central District Police conducted a 48-hour intelligence-led enforcement drive under Operation Kavach 14.0, apprehending 337 offenders, registering 106 criminal cases and detaining 3,511 people as part of a crackdown on street crime, narcotics, illegal liquor, gambling and illegal arms. The operation, carried out from 6 pm on June 22 to 6 pm on June 24 under the directions of the Police Headquarters, involved 99 police teams conducting 338 intelligence-based raids across crime-prone areas, vulnerable locations, slum clusters, liquor supply routes and other suspicious establishments. Police also issued 1,119 challans under the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act (COTPA) and bound down 374 people as a preventive measure. Recoveries included more than 5 kg of ganja, 54.76 grams of smack, 52 grams of MDMA, 150 Avil injections, 231 syringes, 35 Naloxone sublingual tablets, 45 bottles of codeine syrup, 11 panni pipes and Rs 15,450 in cash. Police also registered 22 cases under the Delhi Excise Act, arresting 22 people and seizing 1,530 quarters of illicit liquor. Under the Arms Act, 20 cases were registered, leading to the arrest of 20 accused and the seizure of two pistols, three country-made pistols, seven live cartridges and 16 knives.
