New Delhi, May 15 -- A 40-year-old man died after being hit by a Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) bus near the Dhaula Kuan Metro Station on Friday morning, while a motorcycle rider sustained minor injuries in the incident, police said.

The deceased was identified as Vijay Singh (40), a resident of Lalu Kheda in Unnao, Uttar Pradesh. Police said a PCR call regarding the accident was received at Dhaula Kuan Police Station, following which local police personnel rushed to the spot and initiated an investigation.

According to investigators, the accident occurred near the exit gate of the Dhaula Kuan Metro Station when Vijay Singh was attempting to

cross the road.

During the crossing, he was allegedly struck by an orange-coloured DTC bus passing through the area. The impact of the collision threw him onto the road, causing fatal injuries. He died on the spot before medical assistance could be provided.

A motorcycle rider passing through the area also suffered minor injuries during the incident. Police said the injured biker was given medical assistance and is out of danger.

A Crime Team was called to inspect the scene and document evidence related to the crash. Officials examined the accident site and recorded details to ascertain the sequence of events leading to the collision.

The body was shifted to Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital for preservation and medico-legal formalities. Police said a post-mortem examination would be conducted as part of the legal proceedings.

According to police, the driver of the offending DTC bus fled the spot along with the vehicle immediately

after the accident.

Efforts are underway to trace the absconding driver and identify the bus involved in the incident.

Police said legal action has been initiated under relevant provisions of law, and investigators are examining CCTV footage from nearby areas to determine the circumstances surrounding the fatal accident.
