India, Aug. 12 -- A 24-year-old woman died after allegedly falling from a high-rise apartment in Noida's Sector 108 on Sunday evening, barely a month after her marriage, with her family later alleging that she had been harassed over dowry. Police are investigating both the circumstances surrounding her fall and the allegations made by her relatives. The woman, a native of Etah, had been living with her husband in a rented flat in Lily Tower of Divine Meadows society. The couple got married on July 11 and moved into the apartment after their wedding. Her husband, originally from Dehradun, works as a video editor with a private company. Her family members rushed her to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared her dead on arrival. Police reached the residential complex after being informed about the incident and began examining the circumstances surrounding the death. The body was subsequently sent for a post-mortem examination. Police said no suicide note was found at the spot. A forensic team has also been alerted and will examine the scene as part of the investigation. During preliminary questioning, the woman's husband told police that she had been suffering from depression for some time and was undergoing treatment. Investigators are verifying the claim, however, as he was unable to immediately provide documents relating to the alleged treatment when asked by police. Statements from her husband and others who may have information about the couple's relationship are being recorded. The case took another turn after the woman's relatives arrived in Noida following news of her death. They accused her husband of harassing her in connection with dowry and questioned whether the circumstances surrounding her death were being adequately investigated. The family has demanded that the allegations be thoroughly examined and that the death not be viewed in isolation as a suicide. Police said the allegations would be investigated along with all other possible circumstances surrounding the incident. Police are awaiting the post-mortem and forensic reports while examining the woman's history and family's complaint. No conclusion has been reached, with further action based on evidence gathered.
