New Delhi, Oct. 7 -- The BJP on Wednesday organised the 'Seva Jyoti Yatra' in Delhi to mark Prime Minister Narendra Modi completing 25 years in public life, with Chief Minister Rekha Gupta joining party leaders and workers in carrying the ceremonial torch from the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium to different parts of the city.
BJP national president Nitin Nabin flagged off the yatra by handing over torches to representatives from Delhi's seven Lok Sabha constituencies. Gupta, Delhi BJP president Harsh Malhotra, MPs, ministers and senior party leaders participated in the programme.
Gupta said Modi's 25-year public journey was marked by continuous service and commitment to the nation.
"The completion of 25 years of Prime Minister Narendra Modi Ji's public life is an important occasion for the country," she said, adding that his "nation first" approach remained an inspiration.
She said the Prime Minister's vision of 'Viksit Bharat @2047' could be achieved through the collective participation of citizens. She also linked the initiative with Delhi's goal of a 'Viksit Delhi'.
The yatra was organised as part of the BJP's nationwide 'Seva Sankalp Abhiyan'. Party workers from various organisational units gathered at the stadium before carrying the torches towards their respective parliamentary constituencies.
The yatra covered the seven Delhi Lok Sabha constituencies, Chandni Chowk, North-East Delhi, East Delhi, New Delhi, North-West Delhi, West Delhi and South Delhi.
Through the programme, BJP workers pledged to carry forward the spirit of 'Seva Hi Sangathan' and work towards public welfare and nation-building.
The party said the initiative was aimed not only at commemorating Modi's 25 years in public life but also at renewing its commitment towards the goal of a developed and self-reliant India by 2047.
