Kolkata, Oct. 30 -- NITI Aayog Vice-Chairman Ashok Kumar Lahiri on Friday called for comprehensive regulatory reforms at the Centre and state levels to attract investment and accelerate economic growth.

Addressing a session organised by the Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Lahiri said the state needed to improve its regulatory compliance to emerge among the top performers. He stressed the need to move from regulation-driven hurdles to an investment-friendly environment, warning that procedural burdens and bureaucratic delays could discourage investors.

He said administrative reforms must also involve changes in the approach of officials to improve ease of doing business. State Industries minister Tapas Roy said Bengal would create better opportunities for industries, adding that the new industrial policy would be announced on November 5.
