Maligaon, Nov. 5 -- Northeast Frontier Railway's General Manager (Construction) Ashish Bansal on Wednesday handed over a cheque of Rs 13,63,205 to Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma for the Chief Minister's Relief Fund to support people affected by floods in the state during June and July 2026.
During his meeting with the Chief Minister on November 4, Bansal said the contribution reflected the railway organisation's commitment to supporting people in the region during difficult times.
He also briefed Sarma on various railway infrastructure projects and surveys being undertaken by Northeast Frontier Railway (Construction) across the Northeast. He highlighted initiatives aimed at strengthening connectivity, improving transport infrastructure and accelerating regional development.
Bansal discussed several issues requiring the state government's cooperation for the smooth and timely execution of key railway projects. These included assistance in removing encroachments obstructing construction work and facilitating land clearance for important multi-tracking projects.
The projects discussed included the Lumding-Furkating double-line project and the Kamakhya-Guwahati third-line project, both requiring land-related support and coordination with the state government.
He also sought the government's cooperation in expediting the land acquisition process for the proposed Kokrajhar-Gelephu new railway line, describing it as an important connectivity initiative for the region.
