New Delhi, June 21 -- The New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) on Sunday observed the International Day of Yoga across nine prominent locations in the Capital, drawing participation from around 6,000 people under the theme, "Yoga for Healthy Ageing."

Organised in coordination with the Ministry of AYUSH and eight yoga institutions, the programme saw participants perform the Common Yoga Protocol at venues including Lodhi Garden, Talkatora Garden, Kartavya Path, Pandara Park, Palika Park and PSOI, Chanakyapuri.

Union Health and Family Welfare Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda joined the yoga session at Shanti Path along with officials from the Ministry of AYUSH and volunteers from Art of Living. Minister of State for Jal Shakti Raj Bhushan Chaudhary participated in the event at Lodhi Garden.

NDMC Chairman Keshav Chandra attended the programme at PSOI and highlighted yoga's role in daily life and holistic well-being. He said yoga should be adopted as a regular practice to improve physical health, mental clarity and resilience.

The civic body also organised yoga activities at old-age homes, hostels, AYUSH units and residential communities. To support the event, NDMC deployed around 1,000 personnel and arranged civic amenities, live telecasts, yoga mats and medical assistance.
