Kolkata, Aug. 4 -- NCW chairperson Vijaya Rahatkar will visit Bengal from August 5 to 7 to lead programmes on women's safety, access to justice, legal awareness and grassroots outreach in Kolkata and Howrah.
The visit will commence on August 5 with the 'Campus Calling Programme' at the West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences (WBNUJS), Kolkata, where the chairperson will interact with students on issues relating to women's rights, Constitutional values and legal awareness.
This will be followed by an interaction with Women Self Help Groups at Dhano Dhanya Auditorium, focusing on women's economic empowerment and community participation. Later in the day, she will participate in the 'She Serves Programme' at the National Library auditorium, highlighting the role of women in public service and leadership.
On August 6, the Chairperson will inaugurate the Bengal Women's Development Conclave 2026 - "Nari Netritwe Unnoto Bangla" at the Biswa Bangla Convention Centre (BBCC), Kolkata. The conclave will bring together policymakers, senior government officials, experts, entrepreneurs, academicians, professionals and women leaders to deliberate on a roadmap for women's development and leadership in the state.
Rahatkar will chair a meeting with the Director General of Police and senior police officers to assess the institutional response to crimes against women and review measures relating to women's safety.
On August 7, Rahatkar will preside over a POSH workshop in Howrah, review women-centric initiatives with district officials, and address an anti-human trafficking workshop at the BSF South Bengal Frontier headquarters in
New Town, Kolkata.
