New Delhi, Nov. 4 -- NBCC (India) Limited has completed the restoration and modernisation of Bungalow No. 1 on Janpath Road in the national capital for Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, spending around Rs 6.5 crore on the project.

The Navratna public sector enterprise under the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs handed over the holistically upgraded residence on October 22 after completing the work in three-and-a-half months.

Built in the 1930s, the bungalow had become dilapidated over the years. The restoration involved structural retrofitting and reinforcement while preserving its architectural and heritage features.

According to NBCC, the upgraded residence combines its original heritage aesthetics with modern interiors, sustainable net-zero concepts and landscaped green spaces.

Naidu appreciated the work, particularly the preservation of the bungalow's heritage character alongside the incorporation of modern amenities.

NBCC Chairman and Managing Director K P Mahadevaswamy said restoring a heritage building required engineering precision and respect for its history. "Bringing this landmark back to life in just three and a half months is a testament to the dedication of Team NBCC and our unwavering commitment to quality and timely delivery," he said.

The project adds to NBCC's portfolio of redevelopment, restoration and upgradation works undertaken for government clients across the country.
